Jurassic museum of Arts

"This museum is housed in a villa that is typical of the era when Moutier was developing as an industrial center at the start of the 20th century, with a superb modern wing built of concrete; it hosts numerous exhibitions which are as interesting as they are varied. The setting is magnificent, and I was particularly struck by the perfect harmony of contrasts between classical and contemporary architecture. Definitely a place to visit often, because each new exhibition casts the museum in a different light."

Good to know
The Jura Museum of Arts owes its existence to the Club Jurassien des Arts. Established at Moutier in 1953 by printer and publisher Max Robert, the association has been staging exhibitions since 1955. From the very outset, these events have showcased the contemporary art of the Jura region and Switzerland, a principle that is still perpetuated today. Currently the museum conserves more than 7’000 oeuvres from 1950 till today – a unique heritage that is valorised regularly. The museum hosts about 4 to 5 thematic and monographic exhibitions per year, with rooms for younger public, which are periodically created.
